The Day That’s In It

Patrick's Day Limerick

Neither I nor my sweet girl managed to make it out to see the procession of scouts/girlguides/community groups that is the St. Patrick's Day parade in Limerick (despite the…em…'thrilling' promise of it going in the opposite direction this year).

My excuse was that I was in bed nursing a sore head…and besides, it was bloody arctic out there (by all accounts). We did, however, pop out for lunch (well wrapped-up) after the whole shebang was over, and later swung by Pery Square to visit the relocated market and to listen to a bit of traditional Irish…er…gospel music. Like practically all Paddy's day offerings it was a rather random/haphazard affair, but 'twas still nice to see an underused area of town being transformed into a proper public space.

On other news, I'm currently trying to transcribe a 2 hour telephone interview I did the other night with a British comics luminary…but it's proving very slow and painful work. Tom Raftery suggested that I should, in the future, podcast all such interviews and I'm beginning to think (as I grow weary) that he might be right. Perhaps I can get Jett to 'host' it for me as I'd like to edit myself (and my embarrassing voice) out as much as possible.

Anyway, that's for the future…but watch this space for more 'texty' goodness (if I ever get the damn thing finished).

Good man yourself. That’s the proper way to celebrate your Irishness – extreme alcohol poisoning…
