Attention List Lovers
Just a quick note to advise readers that the Irish Blog Awards "Long Lists" have been released and fustar.info has made the cut in the following categories:
Best Blog
Best Blog Post (x 2): "David Sque Interview Pt. 1: The 'Whizz, Bang, Pop' Stuff", and, "Chess With Balls".
Most Humorous Post (x 2): "Dis-Courtesy Call", and, "Manky Toy Monday: League of the Transformable".
Best Arts and Culture Blog
Best Designed Blog (Thanks Jess!)
Best Sport & Recreation Blog: For my World of World Cup Wonders (an exhausting but terrifically enjoyable experiment).
In addition, the (currently dormant) group blog MyersWatch/Cruiskeen Eile has been listed under "Best Specialist Blog", and (indeed) one of my Myers-Watching posts ("Boys Will Be Boys") can also be found in the "Best Blog Post" list.
Anyway, the next step is to cut the (very long) "Long Lists" down to more manageable short lists (from which the judges will decide the eventual winners). If you're a fan of the blog(s) and fancy giving me a vote in the above categories then you can do so here. You can vote in as many, or as few, categories as you wish but you’re only allowed one vote per category (a wise precaution intended to prevent spamming).
Voting closes on February 16th at 5pm.
While Jett Loe has flatteringly described my failure to pick up a gong last year as a "shafting" – I was actually chuffed just to have made the short lists. Honestly…I was…really…
Further rejection this year, however, could lead to the (distinctly unpleasant) sight of yours truly sitting on the dance floor in a tear-stained tux…or in a pool of my own (or someone else's) vomit. If you don't want to have that as your lasting memory of the award ceremony you know what to do.
A full, clickable, list of all nominees can be found here. Well worth spending a bit of time on. Lots of new (and old) goodies to explore.

This is a situation that requires tactical voting, I feel.
Rather than split the fustar-friendly vote, I propose plumping for one post. In best humourous post I’d go with the Land of the Transformables.
The author ought to nominate his preferred best blog post.
Congrats yourself, I’ll be ticking boxes later. It’s a pity that so many great blogs have to be nominated in the same category and only one can win.
Yours, The Harlot’s Progress, Letter to America are all great…
Fústar,
I’ve voted
(My bank account details are the same as last year)
I’m sure you’re right (tactically-speaking) Simon (and thanks for the support)…but I feel a bit odd asking people to vote for specific posts.
I guess I prefer “League of the Transformable” in the humour section because it’s more representative of the blog than the Willie O’Dea one (which is nothing like the stuff/nonsense I usually write about).
As for the best blog post…well I’m quite proud of the David Sque interview as I put a lot of time and effort into it (and it’s always nice to add something to the internet store that wasn’t there before) but I appreciate that such things have limited appeal.
I do also have a fondness for “Chess With Balls”, however, as it helped me discover that I find writing about snooker almost more fun than watching it.
Neither of them have much hope of winning I would have thought, so whatever “fustar-friendly” types think best themselves.
Thanks Sinéad. The competition is indeed stiff in “Arts & Culture” this year. A good gang of souls in there to be sure.
Thanks foolhardy. Is it ok if I send you Lidl vouchers instead? Bit short of cash…
