Things may appear to have been fairly quite around here of late, but I haven't been totally unproductive. Like a beaver on crack I have been…er…beavering away on another project and now, finally, it can be unveiled.

Dah, dah! There you go. A lovely, shiny new blog - Greetings Earthlings: An Alien Miscellany.
Before you scratch the head and type something tooth-grindingly annoying like "WTF??" allow me to explain what it's all about by quoting my "about" page:
Welcome to Greeting Earthlings (GE) - a blog for those haunted, fascinated or amused by illustrations, photos and descriptions of "alien" entities. Part "art project", part encyclopaedia, the blog is intended as a place where the imaginative potential of alien encounters and images can be explored and enjoyed. The aim is to create a playful and provocative space that (hopefully) prompts, cajoles and stimulates readers' imaginations. Above all else, I hope it's fun.
The full manifesto/mission statement (such as it is) can be read here and the first entry (one of my favourite alien encounter tales) is online and waiting to be read. I've a fairly clear idea of what I want the blog to be, but it's designed to be pretty loose and whimsical so anything could (and hopefully will) happen.
As I say on the site, I'm quite keen to get artists (of whatever standard) involved in the project, so if you're a fustar.info reader who has his/her own pencils or crayons drop me an email and I'll assign you some work. I predict a 75% chance of hilarity…
Once again I must say a humungous thank you to my beautiful and talented wife Jess for all her technical/design assistance. Without her it'd just be (like the vast majority of my half-assed ideas) doodles and scribbles in my notebook.

June 25th, 2007 at 1:13 amI am the artistically handicapped member of an artistically gifted family. I volunteer to be assigned an alien to draw, provided it is understood that said alien will not be recognisable by its own mother/hive/birthing pod at the end.

Simon, I have just the thing for you. Will mail details when I get the chance. Being “artistically handicapped” (and I’m sure you do yourself a disservice by this description) is no impediment, as I’m very fond of images that look “home made” and amateurish.
