Pot the red 'n' screw back, for the yellow, green, brown, blue, pink 'n' black…1
Near enough to the last minute I know, but I wonder if I might humbly request a Dreadful Thoughts Story Club rescheduling?
One reason is that this Monday (as those who pay attention to calendrical matters will no doubt be aware) is a bank holiday.2 Chances are that horror fans might miss the 9 o'clock kick off as they try to squeeze the last few hours out of the weekend in Kilkee, Lahinch, Ballybunion or national/international equivalents.
The more important reason, however, is that Monday night (5th May) sees the conclusion of the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield. Long-time readers will possibly be aware of my love of clunking balls and green baize, but if anyone needs (or wants) reminding then have a quick rummage through these.

Getting to the point - the long and the short of it is that I'd like to keep this coming Monday free. If there are no major objections could we switch our "Monkey's Paw" meeting to Tuesday, 6th May, at 9 pm instead? Let me know whadya think.

Meeting: Tuesday, May 6th, 9 p.m.

It’s been very good this year, hasn’t it? I put a small bet on Joe Perry, a few days ago, at 24/1. Doubt he’ll win. But I’ve doubted him all the way through and that seems to have stood him in decent stead.
It’s only this year, as well, that I noticed something. That Hendry, he’s really quite a handsome chap. Not Nigel Bond, but then, who is?
I’ll try make Tuesday, but exams abound.
May 1st, 2008 at 10:13 pm2 maximums in one year. Can’t complain about that. I haven’t seen as much as I’d like up to now, but I’ll be bolting the doors come tomorrow evening and glueing my eyes to the screen for the remainder of the long weekend.
Well you might mock (if indeed you are mocking) but when he first arrived on the scene my young she-cousin’s wall was covered in pics of him in all his mulletty glory.
He had the teeny market cornered. The middle-aged demographic favoured Cliff Thorburn, and his Rhett Butler/Tom Selleck ‘tache-appeal.
Oh and then there was Tony Knowles. He set hearts a-fluttering (largely because the majority of his opponents looked like sickly fish) but won little. He also lent his name to the first cue I ever owned. It was a piece of crap. Flash looking, but (somewhat appropriately) rather useless.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:59 pmLooks like Ronnie is hammering Hendry this morning - he didn’t get a look in.
And I didn’t know Joe Perry was taking time out from guitar duty with Aerosmith to play in the other semi-final?
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:41 pmPity. I don’t mind Ronnie winning of course, but just wanted to see this one go down to the wire. Hendry got destroyed 17-4 at the same stage by Ronnie 3 or 4 years ago - so he must be feeling a sickening sense of deja vu. Can’t see the final being anything but a formality now (as it was back then - vs. G. Dott).
Joe Perry has not only taken time off from Aerosmith, he’s also transformed himself physically - to now look like a slightly wizened, balding, bizarro-version of Johnny Depp.
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:08 pmThis is a virtual repeat of when Ronnie last won the tile. He’s playing so well at the moment (currently 15-6) that it would take something cataclysmic to stop him winning the chanpionship now.
