My Dad suggested to me last night that nothing sums up Christiano Ronaldo’s weaknesses like his too-clever-by-half and ultimately bottled penalty in the Champions League Final.

Don’t forget Anelka’s decisive bit of bottling either. If ever I’d have been willing to bet a major organ on the outcome of a penalty kick it was that one. He may complain that his reputation as “le sulk” is an unwarranted one – but he does an impressive job of looking like someone who couldn’t give a flying fuck.

Also, was Ronaldo’s penalty (bottled or not) not illegal? I remeber Johnny Aldridge’s constant flirtation with the rules as regards constant motion. Have these rules been changed?
