No, the most ridiculous bit of campaigning so far is the sticker I saw on a lamp-post at O'Connell Bridge last week. It showed Brian Cowen photoshopped into hip-hop clothes, with a big gold necklace that spelled out "NAMA". There were two other government shites, one dressed as a pirate and one as Charlie Chaplin (I have no explanation). In the background, a giant hand had picked up a tiny woman, and was holding her upside down so that all her consumer goods fell out of her shopping bags.

It even beat the Satan stickers from Lisbon 1.

This one is a good runner-up, though.

Didn't the European electorate tell Libertas to "go fuck themselves" in spectacular fashion in the recent election? I'm worried now that if I vote "yes", some evening I'll be sitting in Chez Doubtful enjoying a mug of coffee when I'll see a pair of bright green eyes in the darkness outside my window.
Cnuimh, She's like a mini Róisín Dubh [Róisín(ín) Dubh?]. Or should that be Róisín Bán? Either way, her tears are of and for Ireland. They can't be ignored. In them lie all our future hopes (if we still have any left).

You cannot just dismiss a side of the vote as you don’t like the poster. You should weigh up both sides and make a decision. By Friday you should decide which way to vote or else spoil your vote.

Thanks for the advice, Dad. Weighing up both sides before voting had never occurred to me. In previous referendums I've just gone into the booth and smashed my forehead repeatedly onto the Yes & No boxes before passing out on the option I'd eventually choose.

Everyone puts out hilarious posters!!

Perhaps. But you'd struggle to find one more lowest common denominator than the above. Campaign posters are not simply meaningless fluff that have little or nothing to do with a party's ethos. They're a visual shorthand for the kind of politicking a party wants to engage in. So my point was that even if (and I say if) I had no other reason than the above image to dismiss Libertas as ridiculously reactionary (etc) , that would be valid reason enough.

I wouldn't bother my hole giving my ear further to a shower interested in such sentimental sensationalism.

If you don't think they should be allowed to put up a poster then I guess what they are saying is true! Democracy is dead! Just don't tell that little girl...........It would break her little heart!!

Those boys have made up my mind for me: I'm just so grateful that they took this photo and that I got the chance to see this poster before I cast my vote...
I mean, she's crying, and she's soooooo young?!?!

Didn't spot the She-Hulk Jnr angle. This is now looking like a teaser for a forthcoming reactionary comic book. Cue ley line induced warp spasms and the opening of giant cans of whupass if Yes triumphs. It's gonna be ugly.

Jigsaw, while there are (I'm sure) many fine and upstanding reasons for flinging this treaty back in the faces of those twisting our arms to vote in the affirmative, posters like the above constitute crass, scare-mongering populism of the lowest order. I've no strong convictions one way or the other. I happened to choose the above simply because it's the most hilariously inflammatory of a mad and bad bunch. And even on that basis alone, Libertas can go fuck themselves.

Posters on both sides are ridiculous but they get attention and shock just like you posting about it.I'm not saying I agree totally with Libertas but when you have an incomprehensible treaty combined with a government guilt tripping people into voting for it theres something definitely wrong with it.We already have unelected people here deciding how to run things we don't need more from the EU.Remember Dan Boyle going in Government buildings to decide the make up of the government when he was NOT elected??

I don’t know what this is about, but I’m scared. Put me down for a ‘No’.

I'll send Libertas HQ your email address. You're just the type they're looking for. Frightened, confused, easily-alarmed. Not knowing "what this is about" is of no consequence. In fact, it's a plus.

Hope you've stocked up on tinned food, bottled water, and shotgun cartridges.

I'd have shown faint (but still clearly visible) slavering beasts advancing out of the gloom. I'm sure it was brought up during the brainstorming stage.
